For the unleashed freerider, the mens Patagonia Rubicon Rider Jacket has a soft-shell core with burly hard-shell reinforcements to allow amplified motion in shaky weather and dicey terrain. The supple ripstop shell is soft, water-resistant and decidedly breathable for high-output endeavors. Two-layer waterproof panels, made from recycled materials, beef up the shoulders and arms to increase abrasion-resistance and weather protection. A lightweight, highly compressible layer of 150-g recycled polyester insulation warms even when wet to keep you carving when the mercury bottoms out. Quilted construction throughout the body and arms reduces bulk without sacrificing warmth. For a smooth flow over layers, the interior is lined with easy-glide recycled polyester. At the neck, an adjustable gasket protects chin from cold air and zipper rub; the collar is lined with brushed polyester. Finer points include a stretch powder skirt, a removable, helmet-compatible hood, articulated elbows and an integrated drawcord at the bottom hem. With two insulated handwarmer pockets, a chest pocket, a left-sleeve pocket and two internal mesh pockets (one sized for an audio device, with holes for routing cables to your helmet).
